Bill,
Thanks - sorry to have you "re-live" your tragic home fire.  I'd never seen you tell us what had happened.  Thanks.
As I told you once before - you and all your countrymen are in our thoughts and prayers in these times.
I won't re-visit our discussions re: California and their wildfires.  Just leave it as having similarities (on a smaller scale in Calif.)
A real shame regarding all the animals down under dying; and many more losing their habitats.
Stay safe - we are praying for ya'll.
Mac

Subject: Australia fires not legacy dont have to read

No mac my house burnt down in the middle of winter due to a wood heater malfunction a log in the heater rolled forward in the heater hit the door it opened and a burning log rolled out onto the lounge room carpet, one of my kids didn’t close the door properly or put the log in the fire the right way round. you can’t put  an experienced head on young shoulders I’m afraid.by the time he finished panicking and called me down stares it was too late the whole room was on fire and he was trapped and by the time I got to him we were both trapped all that took 5 minuets,, 5 minuets after that we could only see flames all round us as we laid on the floor and listen to the screams of our pets as they were burning to death about then we were pretty much saying goodbye to each other saying our I love yous  when we heard a crash and saw a wall fall down through the smoke which gave us a way out. So from start to the whole house gone was 20 minutes.

So if I ever say I know about fire you better believe it I do.

Now I apologise to all this is not legacy but one of the fires yesterday was only 200 yards away it was only small but it did bring it all back to me but we had a little rain yesterday so we are safe again near me but summer has only just started.

I have started a new posting for this topic so anyone who wishes doesn’t have to read my answer to you mac.

So far here millions of acers are burnt hundreds of homes are lost, too many people are burnt and dead and ½ a billion animals are estimated burnt to death. just the total koala bear population  of the whole country is now less than half and they were endangered before the fires so my friend your firemen are very welcome to help us through these bad times in Australia.

I Know this is off-topic but we need to convey to you:

Praying for your country and all the people, land, and animals being impacted by all the fires you are experiencing.

I heard on the radio a couple hours ago that there are a fair number of US firefighters en-route to Australia - to provide assistance.

Pray the weather changes sufficiently to help fight the fires.

I know your home burned years ago (6?) - was it from fires like these?
