hey Brigitte, I don't own a Shopsmith bandsaw but will say my PM1800 has bearings and would never go back to a bandsaw with out either having them or adding them. In my opinion, I would highly recommend them to you if they are adaptable to the shopsmith. You can't go wrong. Your blades will run soooo much cooler, thus lasting longer. Only my 3 cents worth.
