Thanks Mac, I replied to your previous post though I do see you updated the subject.

Yes the new machines are indeed nice and provide improvements over the older units.

If I was starting all over from scratch ….maybe.

For now, I intend to keep an eye out for a used power pro to show up for sale at a reduced cost. My tool budget is not what it once as and the misses is getting wise to the addition.

“Hello, my name is Jeff. I am a tooloholic and it’s been seven days, I mean two days, since my last purchase.” Lol

Enjoy the time with family and friends this weekend. 👍

For any Group member that owns a Shopsmith (and a lot of us do) - this is Great info about their latest headstock upgrade.

In a post earlier last night, I mentioned the "new" Touchscreen Control Panel they came out with a few months ago.

Here's a link to all the info you may want to be aware of:   SS PowerPro Touchscreen Headstock

Jeff - for sure you ought to look it over - as it will most likely now meet your needs.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Jeff,

For "Speed Range" on your Shopsmith - check out the relatively "new" PowerPro Headstock and perhaps even the Touch Screen control pad they came out with earlier this year.  Both versions are a significant improvement over the previous belt-driven headstocks.  Additionally they both will run on 120v or 220v - with you only needing to swap out the plug; the electronics make the adjustment internally.  And when you go the 220v route - you supposedly get a full 2HP!  Sooo - you will get both speed and power improvements.

Let us know which route you go - the original PowerPro Conversion or the most recent TouchScreen PowerPro.

Same request if you were willing.

I do have a couple shopsmiths but have been looking for a used super shop for the extra capability. ( speed range and strength )

Cutting nested bowls is also of an interest as those jigs can get quite pricey. ( woodcut, Oneway, etc)

It would be neat to see what you come up with.

You may not be hearing from me for a bit because I'm working on building some

long sought after lathe jigs.  In another kind of serendipity, I have dreamed up a

design unique to Supershops for a jig that will turn accurate spheres and hollows

and cut nested bowls from a blank. It's a metal working challenge outside the

scope of this forum.

Good to hear about your healing, Bill.  I think the bone turnings Curt has done

look fine.  I tend to prefer smaller checkering diamonds on things, but it's

purely a preference thing.  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and most

beholders appreciate the thought and touch of a master more than the

"correctness" of design, which tends to be a ghostly holy grail.

Happy Thanksgiving to all. I'm grateful to have become acquainted

Hey Curt,

They still look pretty cool though. I agree the diamond pattern is slightly large for the handle

but still looks great. Keep the inspiration going Curt.

I did put my rotary table on my Revo last night so my heart is in the right place. We are

just busy with pre-christmas orders. so my play time is very limited.

Hello Everyone.

Started working with bone again today.

I made 3 handles.

I have been playing around with new designs/shapes and patterns, to see what looks good, and find new possibility's that will work with what I am doing.

The checkered handle is one of my favorite templates, but up until now checkering I've not done, The size of the checkering to the spindle, looks to big, as least It is not what I was hoping for, Perhaps, I should have gone smaller?

The other two are nice, but perhaps a little on the thin side.

Its all part of the learning curve here.

If anyone has any idea, on designs and or detail elements, Please let me know.

Have a good day everyone.
