Hello Everyone.  I was asked today about MY Legacy 200.
The 200 was made for a very short production run, ( I think it was only a year?
but I could be wrong.)   As a saw it, Legacy wanted to get into the pen making
market,  The Beall company was making there Pen Wizard machine (which in my
mind is just a smaller LOM.)  So Legacy decided to get into this market. The 200
was born.   The 200 is a very small machine compared to any other LOM before.
Instead of having an "X,Y,&,Z axis, Legacy removed the Y axis and made a free
floating Z axis.   Due to the small size, Legacy only made two gears that could
be used on the 200. (depending on which gear was on the acme screw you could go
fast to turn or slow to rope.I feel in love with this machine, but bye to time
I tried to buy it, it was no longer in production, But I did buy some parts
that were left over, So today I still own two free floating Z axis's for the
200.Years went by and one day, Someone in our group found a 200 on Market
place. and contacted me, to let me know.I hesitated buying it, at first, but
ended up getting lucky and was able to buy it.The 200 is one very NEAT Machine,
but it was very limited on what it could do.The very first thing that I did was
to make a bracket so this machine could hold a angle grinder instead of the
laminating router it was designed for.  (Note: I bought a Veil lathe duplicator
cutter head years before I bought the 200.)I made a number of simple MOD's to
my 200. first the legs, I made it self standing. (the legs came form an old
Wood Chuck mill that I bought.)Then I added a motor drive for the headstock.
replaced the dead center with a ball bearing one for the tailstock. Added a
Legacy banjo and gear set to this 200. (I need to add a second bearing set and
added a chain to hook up the gears to the 200.) NOW my 200 could  be used just
like my 1000, but I found out one small problem with this idea. the Legacy 1000
gearing were designed to make much larger cuts that just did not look right on
smaller parts. So again I re-worked my machine, by adding an 5/8-8 Acme screw
to the 200. (this basically reduces all the gears by 1/2,   So If I am using
the standard gear set, with a C gear/ 3" pitch, this just made the pitch 1
1/2") This MOD allowed me to make pitches on smaller parts that the Legacy
could not do.Latter I found that the Z axis worked well, but when I adjusted
the follower I could not control the depth of cut. So I than added a mic. onto
the headstock so I could adjust the follower by .001 (or finer if I wanted.)
Today I am VERY Happy with my Little Frankenstein's monster, which I call my
Supper 200, (or just my 200 most of the time.)
Here are a few pix.
