The first is sized to do "smaller" boards - like cutting and charcuterie boards or any pieces that will fit within its rails. As for the Slab Flattening Jig - self explanatory - for slabs. It actually can be used to flatten boards as small as the Board Flattening Jig will - up to the max capacity of how you buy the Slab Flattening Jig - as there is an extension kit available for both jigs. If interested in one - go to Rockler's website and read up on them. There are a few 'how to" videos on the Internet - so seek one or more out to learn more. You will not be disappointed with either one.
