No worries, mate as Bill might say. I'm just a hobbyist so urgency is not on
my table anymore. I won't drag my feet next time... :)

Hello Everyone.

Dan, Yes I had made the offer for members to buy extra hubs.

I had a number of members send me private e-mails asking for the number of hub
that they wanted.

At this point I have to stop, taking orders, Once I have the hubs in hand,(I
still do not have them yet.)

I will divide what I have and hopefully everyone will get what they asks for.

I do not want to over step my limit and offer what I can not supply. After I
know more I may make another offer to the group,

of any that may be left over.

but we will have to see.

At this time, this is the best that I can do. So please don't give up hope.

We may come up with more hubs in the future?

Have a good night.

Yes, I like the "hub" system. There is a constraint not mentioned anywhere I
have found that I've uncovered by accident. I noticed a great deal of wear on
one of my hubs after I used it and realized I had mounted it on an end that
looked square to the turning axis but wasn't really. So, I've made it a point
to be sure the end is squared as much as possible even to the extent of
mounting it on my lathe using spur centers and turn the ends square. A lot of
my turning work comes from firewood, so square ends are not "natural"!

Someone, Curt maybe, had hubs for sale and i probably missed the opportunity. I
did not recognize what he was offering at the time. But if it's the square
plates with 4 bent "teeth", then I'd like to get another 8 or 12. ???

Woops! forgot to add the pix.

the first photo is the split stop nut and the wood hub adaptor. this one is
very simple. made out of wood, and tapped to 1x8 thread. I cut the part in half
making two parts. once threaded onto the Legacy, I would lock the bolts down
(the bolts form the side.) which would lock the part onto the 1x8 shaft. the
other end had 5 holes which locked into the hub drives. this was the pre-curser
for my indexing lock nuts.

The puck chuck was used to hold already made spindles that I was paid to rope,
I used my Legacy. the square cut held the square end of the spindle. I had 80
spindles to rope, this chuck make this job much easer. (but honestly I have not
used it since.)

I hope everyone has a good day.

more latter. ;-)

Thank you Ken.

I have made hub adaptors out of wood and plastic as well as steel.

Even though Legacy no longer sells there hub drive's for the public. I think
this system is the best method of holding wood for any spindle that I have ever
used.

The hubs are small, will not slip, and can be adjusted or moved form one
machine to others with out having to adjust and balance the parts being turned,
like you would have to do if

using an adjustable lathe chuck.

Now having said this, I have also made and used other type of holding methods,
Like a square locking plate and collet chucks, but those are normally used by
me for specialty jobs.

Here are a few pix.

Have a good day.

Hi Tim. (I just got home from work.)

Thank you.

One thing that I did to make all my tools uniformed was to use the Legacy hub
system on all my equipment.

I have two Legacy's, My Shop Smith, My horizontal mill. and a old craftsman
lathe have the hub adaptors made for each of these machines.

Using the hub system made by Legacy has made my work much better, I can take a
turning, remove a spindle form the Legacy and sand or add free hand lathe
features, then put back on any one of my machines in the shop in min. with out
having to switch anything. really makes everything much easer and faster to
make .

Here are a few that I have made.

Hello everyone.

This video is a fun quick video on handle making on the Lathe.(From

Penn State Industries)

In my wood working, I like to use all my tools together/in conjunction with
each other, Meaning I use all my tools in most of my projects.

What I suggest here is turn this simple handle on the lathe, and then add
details to the handle on the Legacy. Or you could do the other way, make your
handle on the Legacy first, and then add details on the Lathe, like coves and
transition elements, and OR Sanding. (nothing dose a better sanding job then
the Lathe.) either way you have made something very nice, that most people can
not do.

jobs like this are quick and honestly not hard to do, but once done home made
wood handles show skills and give quality that most people today do not have.

Have fun.

talk to you all more latter.
