Hi Tam & Bill-re Census/PDF
I have my Census copies saved in Pdf format and have them viewable in
Legacy by using the Picture Gallery to read them.
You can simply insert them as you would a picture, by clicking on
Video/Files of type/ select all files/locate your Pdf to attach and enter
your description and your Pdf is now viewable.
It would be nice if Legacy could include the words Pdf in the file
selection, so the Pdf thumbnail now showing in your Picture Gallery
selection window, shows it as a Pdf and not the "Video" thumbnail which
displays.

Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] Census data in Legacy
Hi, Bill --
I use PDFs for the same reasons, and they are just easier for me to
manipulate and read than GIFs or JPEGs.
So far as I know, you have to attach a PDF as a "video" -- this is the
only way Legacy will accept it. I haven't figured out a way yet, though,
to actually launch it from Legacy. So I still have to go into my "census
images" directory, find it (not an easy task -- there are hundreds of them
in there) and launch it -- but it's still better (for me) than the image
viewer available in Legacy, which requires too much "mouse work" and my
"roller" doesn't work.
I'm wondering if there are plans in the work to support PDF attachments
that can be launched in Adobe (or the default browser) from Legacy?

I have been read that many of you take a digtial image of the census.
Here's what I do. and why.
I have been able to download PDF files of the different censuses from
Hertiage quest; thru Godfrey Library. The reason is the PDF file has
the ability to increase or decrease the image to view the census. My
eye sight pretty bad and I'm not that old yet!
PS the Godfrey Library does not have the Hertiage quest census anymore.
so I found any library that does!
PPS Whether you can increase or decrease the PDF file in Legacy I do
not know. I have not started to do any reports or books as such.
attaching them to the detail page is a new idea for me. will need to
try.
