I have used PAF for the past twenty years, and it is a very good beginnng
software. I have just changed to Legacy in the past two months. Legacy has
more options that PAF, so it does take some hands on trainng. Practice is
the best thing. I like what Noelene said about not using "how to manuals".
How to manual do help, but hands on practice is more habit forming.
Thanks to all of you for your helpful comments,

Beth,
I have never had any problems with Legacy. EVER. I am constantly
amazed at the daily glitches people encounter. I have found that
with any new software the best way to get used to it is by going
through each of the top drop-down menus [File, Edit, etc.] and
seeing what is available and what each function is for and its
options and how to use them. I don't use "How To" books - they're
time consuming and usually frustratingly complicated. The best
practice is constant use of any programme and becoming familiar
with all of its features.
For my money, Legacy is not perfect but by far has the best
genealogy software because of its on-screen user-friendly view
and ultimate printing options.
