There could well be Mary, the copyright of any published Obituary (or any other published item) belongs to the author/publisher and permission must be obtained to copy and reproduce for publication in any format. The period for which it is protect will vary from country to country. There are usually exclusions for private research purposes and reviews.

Is there a problem with copyright if I include a whole obituary (recent decades) in reports and then distribute to other people?

I usually end up with them in two places: general notes and source text. I
like them in the General Notes because they are interesting to read in the
reports, but since I usually use them as a source, I think they also belong
in the source text.

It's redundant, I know -- but I haven't found a system I like any better
yet. I'll be interested in hearing what others do.
