When I receive or download a GEDCOM from another source, I would like to be able to open it in Legacy as a new, separate file, with assurance that it is not going to come into my "real" file. I'm sure everyone does this often, but I have not had occasion to try it before. So, I have two questions: 1) how do I open a GEDCOM file into a totally separate file, and what do I need to do to make sure it doesn't get "mixed in" with my "real? file? 2) if I do want to incorporate a GEDCOM into my "real" file, how do I do that?
Hopefully someone will make enough sense of my questions that you can at least ask me clarification questions; this is all so new to me, sometimes I feel I can't even formulate a question intelligently!
