True, but she said it was happening *every* time, and has the same number of people. Unless she was deleting more names the compaction should have a one-time effect, as would repairing other errors (assuming they got fixed).

Your backup today will be smaller than your backup of yesterday if in the meantime you have done any File Maintenance > Check/Repair or Compact Family File.
