Actually Ron, there are a number of ways to compare two files. If you are
willing to export GEDCOMs, there is a program (written in Dutch
unfortunately) at http://aldfaer.net/sitemap/?q=node/10040
and the shareware GEDSmart at
http://www.filesland.com/companies/JipJip-com/4244-download.html
and there are probably more with a bit of searching. Users of PAF can use
PAF Insight to compare and synchronize two PAF files so obviously it can be
done.
And in this instance, since both files came from the same original source, I
think using IntelliShare may have been an option. Just pretend the second
file had been sent to someone else. Using IntelliShare, Legacy will
automatically merge exact duplicates that have the same IntelliShare
internal ID and display those records with a difference so the user can
choose.
Finally, (and this is beyond my abilities), some Google searching I did
indicates it is possible within Access to compare two databases. When
talking about only a few then the modified date is probably practical. If
her issue had been hundreds out of a database of thousands, one of the other
options might be a better choice.

Elizabeth,
Have faith in your work!
However, to answer your question. It is not really a practical possibility
to compare two files as you suggest (IMO).
I would suggest the easiest thing to do is using your new file go to
Serach>Detailed Search and serach for an Individual with modified date after
the 'date of the day before' you created the file. My guess is that you
probably changed some on the date you created the file so I would use a
second condition as well AND Individual with modified time after the time of
file creation.

Can anyone guide me please?
I made a copy of my family file under a different name to tidy it up and
now want to return to the original file - how do I find out what changes
have been made so that they can be copied on to the original file,
please? I do not want to save the adjusted file as the original as I am
not sure that it hasn't acquired some extra problems.
