Now that the Legacy User Group is working again I can answer your question.

I would first add the child to Lorrie with no husband entered, unless
you know the name of the father.

Second I would add a second set of parents to the Child.
With the child in the centre of the display click on the parents icon
and use the link to existing parents button.
Select John and his wife from the marriage list that will open.
Now with those parents (John and his wife selected
the child will appear as their child.
Right click on any child in the list and select Children's Settings from
the menu
Select the child and set the relationship to the two parents as Adopted.
