It has been a while, and this is from memory.... As long as the pictures have different names (ie, you don't have pictures in different folders with the same name) - move the files with windows. Then when you try to access the photo in Legacy, it will indicate it is missing, and you tell it the new location of the picture. I believe it will then "find" all the other ones that moved to the same directory.
Someone can probably give you the specific steps - but that is the "jist" of it.
