Hi, I also found that using the marriage notes/events for those shared after the marriage has been very helpful.
The last entry in the events of an indivdual is the place of residence prior to marriage (usually found on the marriage record). When a mate dies then I go back to the surviving individual's notes/events and continue from there. I do this as well for the children. The residences and/or events that relate to each of the family members are entered on their individual pages with the exception of the two that share the marriage. They have that same info in their marriage notes/events. To help me, I usually picture what I'd like to see for that person if I printed out an Individual report for them.
