Page setup includes size and shape of the piece of paper, change fonts allows 
using multiple character sizes and styles; but fits on whatever piece of paper. 
America and Europe use different shaped paper as default. Other places may use 
different also. Not sure what you mean by  'unreliably to control the page 
number font '?

If you go to the publishing center, tab 'options', there are two
buttons namely 'Page Setup' and 'Change Fonts'
Both seem rather unreliably to control the page number font - it's
illogical to have two as far as I can see.
Can anyone help throw light on this please?
