Whenever I changed anything in a source I get a prompt to update it for everyone or just that person. I don't understand what this "secondary source" is. Would this be a citation attached to a main source?
I agree with Dennis--just merge both of them unless there is a chance you will need the primary source later on. Make sure you back up before you merge especially if it has source images attached.
