I keep my source citation files in a multi-branching tree under
C:\Legacy\Docs\. I could have several different files named
page40.jpg, each in it's own subdirectory, example:
C:\Legacy\Docs\FHC Microfilms\Neudorf\1053346\Family_Albums\page40.jpg
C:\Legacy\Docs\FHC Microfilms\Hilbesheim\1170336\page40.jpg
C:\Legacy\Docs\FHC
Microfilms\Rheinsheim\LDS1053432\item4_marriagesV3_1785_1835\page40.jpg

In the 3rd example if I rename subdirectory by deleting LDS, then try
to view an image Legacy reports "File not found" with option "Do you
want Legacy to find it?". I know better than to choose that option and
I believe it should no be an option at least without a strong warning
of possible dire results. I know I should go to
Options>Customize>Locations>View Current List of Locations and edit
the path. However, if I first select "Test all Multimedia Paths",
Legacy will procede to find many of those files in a wrong
subdirectory, WITHOUT MY PERMISSION OR KNOWLEDGE, where they will
forever be mis-directed. If I then edit the path any unique filenames
will be properly directed but common named files will remain
mis-directed.

I made an Access query:
SELECT tblSX.IDSR, tblSX.IDIME, tblSX.Type, tblSX.SrcDetail,
tblBR.IDBPPic, tblBP.PicPath, tblBR.PicName, tblBR.PicCaption,
tblBR.PicOrder, tblSR.SrcName
FROM ((tblSX INNER JOIN tblBR ON tblSX.IDSX = tblBR.IDIR) INNER JOIN
tblBP ON tblBR.IDBPPic = tblBP.IDBP) INNER JOIN tblSR ON tblSX.IDSR =
tblSR.IDSR
WHERE (((tblSX.IDSR)=100) AND ((tblBR.IDType)=41));

and ltools special:
"View 1 source with all attached images","SELECT tblSX.IDSR,
tblSX.IDIME, tblSX.Type, tblSX.SrcDetail, tblBR.IDBPPic,
tblBP.PicPath, tblBR.PicName, tblBR.PicCaption, tblBR.PicOrder,
tblSR.SrcName FROM ((tblSX INNER JOIN tblBR ON tblSX.IDSX =
tblBR.IDIR) INNER JOIN tblBP ON tblBR.IDBPPic = tblBP.IDBP) INNER JOIN
tblSR ON tblSX.IDSR = tblSR.IDSR WHERE (((tblSX.IDSR)={tblSX.IDSR})
AND ((tblBR.IDType)=41));"

Enter the IDSR # of the Source you want to check. You can easily see
any citations that look to the wrong directory. In Access you can
easily edit any incorrect IDBP number. ltools will let you see but, as
far as know, not edit.

I would be interested in hearing from anyone else who has had files
found in the wrong directory.
