At the risk of being repetitive, I will echo what several others have said.
Buy the training videos and keep them close by; you will find a suggested
way to do most everything and then you can improvise from there. I would
have been lost without them -- and I've used other genealogy software for
years.
The archives of this list are very useful; but, start with the videos if you
can.
