Jeff,

1. The settings are in the .usr files. You can copy those over. The settings
in Options > Customize are in the Legacy.usr file.

2. Yes, but you may need to relink the pictures if they're in documents folders
because the ultimate path is different on the new computer. You'll see
"question mark" icons in place of the thumbnails. Just click on one of those
and let Legacy search for the pictures.

A good reason to keep multimedia files under the appropriate sub-folders in
Legacy......

Your Family File From One Computer To Another"

Thanks for using Legacy.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Moving to a new PC

I did look up support on the Legacy website but I could not find all the
answers I needed and therefore please forgive me for asking what must have been
asked many times before.

I am moving from a PC running XP to one using Windows 7. I installed Legacy on
the new PC and it seems to run fine in W 7.

1) How do I transfer my settings? Is that possible onto a different operating
system? My new installation is now using the Legacy defaults.

2) If I backup Legacy AND multimedia and then restore that backup to the new PC
will the pictures go with it? Since the pictures are not all in Legacy folders
(some are elsewhere on my old PC) will these also be moved? Where will the
pictures be placed in the new PC which because of its
different operating system has differently named folders?

Jeff
