Jane, I understand that you are uncertain whether "Nelson" is Susanna's maiden name or whther she had a previous marriage to a "Nelson", in event Carrie's surname is "Nelson" and her father is unknown. First unlink Carrie from her current parents, then create another marriage for Susanna - click on the spouse Icon for Susanna and add a new husband called "unknown". Then link Carrie to this marriage.
Return to the Spouse screen and ensure that the marriage to "Unknown" is first in the list.
