I am a new user of Legacy Deluxe software & am in the process of moving data
from Family Tree Maker 2005 (FTM) for over 8,000 individuals in 4 databases
that I plan to merge.  (There are less than 4 people that overlap in each of
them.)

After exporting a GEDCOM file from one FTM database, I imported it into Legacy
running on a Windows XP machine.  Now I need to clean up my data & would
appreciate any tips to make that task easier.

1)  In FTM, I had included the Hospital & Cemetery names in the location fields
but Legacy has the additional screen, etc for that information.
2) In the FTM single name field, I had the full given name & in ‘(‘ &’)’s the
nick names, other spellings, etc. These extra pieces need to be moved into the
AKA.
3) My FTM Source data doesn’t follow the Source Writer format & after the
import appears in the “Detail Comments” of Legacy Source.
4) In FTM, I used the Notes file to record Census, Land records, Newspaper
clippings, Obits, Wills, Probate, etc.  In Legacy, it appears that many of
these items could be Events.
5) What other possible issues might I find when importing GEDCOM files from FTM?

Thank you for all of your tips to make this task easier,
Dorothy
