Thank you Jenny, your reply makes perfect sense to me. I am not familiar with Fraktur's myself, that's why I asked the question. The certificate was certainly completed by the Minister who performed the marriage ceremony as his signature is affixed.

Where you *found* it is not the point, I would suggest. What is important is where or by whom the document was created. If it was drawn up or "filled in" by a Church official, with information copied from Church records then it is a Church Record in my book. If it originated from a Registrar or other civic official then it's a Civil document. I have never come across a Fraktur myself so I don't know who would issue such a document, but have you looked at the Fraktur template and decided whether or not there seem to be fields which relate to the document you have (or have seen?)
