Hi Jan et.al.
Your example may be true but ONLY if there are NO other events that contain
information
Example---
Use the sample.fdb for Asa Clark Brown
Create a source = 1 test only
use the 3 bar to add this source to name field
Then look at the Assigned Sources for Asa
My count for this 1 source was added to 20+ Source List names.
A very loose application. Try it and see what you think.
Hence the idea to return to the v6 condition where One click would add up
to 5 clipboard sources to One event.....
Last comment on this subject...... even though v7 took away a valuable
took.
till later _J_B_

The triple bar icon is for adding a single source to multiple events - not
for adding multiple sources to a single (nor multiple) events. For
example, you get details of name, dob, dod, and place of burial from one
source (say a fellow researcher)so by clicking on the triple bar you can
add that source (either from the clipboard or by using the Cite A Master
Source button) to everything at once. But, if for example, you have entered
and sourced the information mentioned above, and then later add the place
of birth and place of death from a different source you cannot use the
triple bar icon because it will also add the new source to name and place
of burial. The source clipboard does allow you to save up to ten sources,
but you can only add them one at a time, switching between them to add a
different source. But it does mean you only have to write each one up once
while it remains on the clipboard. The triple bar icon has ALWAYS been for
adding a single source to all fields which have information.
Cheers
Jan

Yes Keith et.al
I am forced to use the single bar to enter multi sources at a single time
to a single person.
Did you try adding even a single source using the 'milti bar' routing ?
Even then it will add that source to fields where not desired of that field
contains any information.
Think if you are tracking a single family through 5 census records, then
you have to enter EACH source separately to each individual.
Example you track a family, husband, wife, and any number of children.
Each source of the 5 it is necessary to go through the 'single bar' routing
for each individual for each source. An extremely lot of wasted extra
effort. Yes it can be done.
census
1850 1860 1870 1880 1900 etc
head x x wd x x
wife x x died
bef '70
child
#1 x x x x x
who m. x x x
had children x x x
who m. x
# 2 etc more children
multiply this by other descendants.
Think of how many times you have to use the 'single bar' routine....
With the 'multi bar' as in v6 the routine was much simplier.
As other has also indicated in the past, and as I believe, the 'multi bar'
routine in v7 is a determent to sourcing. Besides potentially adding
source info where not desired.
