When you go to Options > Locations > Test All Multimedia Paths you get a notice that seems to indicate that you will be doing a PASSIVE search but it is definitely an active search.
I have 3 different Source citation documents named "Page28.jpg" in 3 different subdirectories under C:\Legacy\Docs\. One is in a baptism subdirectory, another in a marriage subdirectory of the same LDS microfilm and the third is in a different marriage subdirectory. If I rename all 3 files to "xPage28.jpg and Test All Multimedia Paths I get report of 6 citations of missing page28.jpg in 3 subdirectories. Next I rename one file back to original name which accounts for 2 citations. I "Test All Multimedia Paths" and should expect to see 4 "missing" reports but nothing is missing. All 6 citations now point to the one Page28.jpg. If I rename the other 2 back to original name it is too late. All 6 remain connected to one Page28. Over the past 4 or 5 years a large percentage of generic named files have gotten redirected to wrong subdirectory until I recently discovered the cause. Legacy should re-lable this search or better yet make it a passive search. -- Richard Van Wasshnova http://www.gencircles.com/users/vanwasshnova http://gw.geneanet.org/vanwasshnova Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp To unsubscribe: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/LegacyLists.asp
