No-one has said you *must* use the three-bar icon. Understand what it does, and what the other icons do, and use it when its actions are what you desire. Don't touch it when you don't want that effect. This is not a bug or a fault in the programmer's logic, or anything else negative that is someone else's doing to your database. The three-bar icon does what it says it does, no more and no less. It is not the program's fault if you don't understand what is clearly explained, and then use it anyway - only you are to blame; accept that with grace and move on with the new knowledge. (Personally, I prefer to use the keyboard shortcuts instead of the icons, and in general I only use the first two: <Alt><1> to open the Source Clipboard <Alt><2> to apply the Source Clipboard contents to the current field <Alt><3> to apply the Source Clipboard contents to all "non-blank" fields <Alt><4> to apply the Source Clipboard contents to the "Unspecified" field See "Keyboard, Shortcuts" in the Legacy Help file for more of these - it's easy to learn one or two at a time if you want to, especially when they're for things you do regularly.)
