I'll have to check that application out since I do a lot of writing both
fiction and non.

I generally put it in notes especially if it's linked to an event. Such as, an
old tale I heard (and recorded to audio tape) revealed that an ancestor froze
to death in a swamp. I never could verify it until accidentally stumbling upon
a newspaper article that didn't list a name of a man who froze to death in a
swamp. A few days later he was identified and that story became a reality.
Further, the family talk recording also revealed what the newspaper
didn't--this man was a terrible drunk which would give some credence as to why
he fell into a swamp. Also why his sister never allowed alcohol in the house
again after that.

I would include it in an event and if you don't know what event it might link
up to at this time, put it in personal notes for that person. You can always
save it outside of Legacy in any word processor as I do for those lengthy
transcriptions from tape. Another thing that I used to do in FTM is just
create an event called personal note or something like that and add it there.
That's what I did with the drunk who fell into the swamp until years later I
could attach it to an event.

Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] Where to put life stories?

Hi James,
I am actually first a life story writer and second a genealogist, so
your question is dear to my heart.
If you don't already use it for something, the obvious answer is the
notes sections for individuals, where you have plenty of space.

Me personally, I leave the stories out of my genealogy program, and
rather use another writing program for that. Ever hear of the
"TheJournal"? GREAT application, lots of flexibility for all kinds of
writing, and yet also simple to use. I am not a front person for the
creator, just a VERY satisfied customer. The owner, "David" has
phenomenal customer service through his yahoo group. check out his
website at www DOT davidrm DOT com. Although I still input all my
stories in my journal, I have appreciated the addition of the
interview questions in Legacy, and they have already helped me with an
interview I did recently.

Hope all this helps!
