Are you saying that ALL your short entries have changed to Brisbane, Qld, Aus?
Or only those which were actually Brisbane to start with? If the former - I
have no idea why, if the latter you must have selected to change all
occurrences of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The overseas ones should not
have changed unless you changed them. Are you saying they changed from
capitals to lower case. (I am wondering if this is related to the User ID
issue recently discussed where after the latest update people were seeing
lowercase ID numbers being inadvertently changed to upper case - unlikely,
especially as this appears to be a change from upper to lower!) However, did
you select to retain case when you set the parameters for the changes to be
made?
The easiest way to fix would be to follow the global changes directions I gave
yesterday - change Qld to QLD, Nry to NRY etc. making sure the case for what
to look for is the lowercase option, and the what to change to option is in
uppercase. Should work.

Thanks for your comments Jan. I had a look at what you suggested and had a
little play around.

I changed one of my entries from "Brisbane, QLD, Australia" to "Brisbane,
Queensland, Australia" with a short name of Brisbane, QLD, AUS.

Then I went to (Options-Customise-View) and checked the box next to "Use
short location names on screen views". That will suit my requirements apart
from the fact that all my other short descriptions have appeared as
"Brisbane, Qld, Aus" and the overseas ones as e.g. "Scarborough, Nry, Eng"
which is not correct.

Years ago I changed the overseas locations to be long with a short
alternative and I didn't change the Australian ones at that time because I
like to use QLD, NSW etc. When I originally entered these places I know I
typed all the Chapman Codes in capitals. Why have they reverted to lower
case? Is there an easy way to fix this without being a mamouth task?

Regards, Ann from Australia

Ann,
You can customise the short version for any / all of your locations. Only
thing is, as you add new locations you have to periodically go in and change
the short name for any new ones you've added. Easy to do though. And you
can elect to see the short location names on the individual screen. Any
locations where the short name is different to the long one will show the
short name - if you haven't actually made any changes to the long name it
will show the long name. (By default the short name is the same as the long
name.)

Let's see if I can get the process right!

Go to View > Master Lists > Location
Click on a location name
Click on Edit
You will see the long name and beneath it the short name
Make any changes here for individual locations.

If you want to make global changes - e.g. all Queensland to QLD the process
is a little different.

Go to Search > Search and Replace
Find where - lists - location short
Find what - (e.g.) Queensland
Replacement Text - (e.g.) QLD
Make appropriate selections in the How to Find box and the How to replace
box.
Click START

You get the option to change all occurrences automatically, or to do them
one at a time to avoid unintentional changes.

Cheers
Jan (also in AUS)
