Rita, Half colored gallery icon means that there is multimedia attached to something for the individual but nothing is in the person's pictures gallery. You should find something under a birth, death, burial, events, sources, or addresses galleries.
You can find this information in the Help>Search...enter "gallery" then click on "The Family View" where it is displayed under Pictures.
