I have a new computer (Dell Optiplex, running Windows 7) with two separate hard drives (C and D). My husband's suggestion is to put all the programs on C and my data on D. I have been a Legacy user since v. 6 and I know that Legacy has some quirks about how it wants to operate and store files.
Here is part two - all my multimedia images are currently on an external hard drive (F). The plan is to move them to the D drive of my new computer, and eliminate the 80g external drive. Here's the procedure I think I should use. If anyone with more experience, particularly with Win7, sees a better way, please let me know. 1. Update to the most recent version of Legacy on my old computer. 2. Backup Legacy to a jump drive, including multimedia. 3. Install Legacy on my new computer. 4. Connect the old external hard drive to my new computer. 5. Restore my Legacy files from the jump drive to the new computer. The questions that I have are: 1. Should I let Legacy choose where it wants to be installed on my new computer? 2. Is there an easy way to change the drive of all my multimedia files, without having to click on every one and change them individually? There may be other issues that I'm not even aware of, since I am a brand new W7 user. I've been sticking with XP until now. Any help from the LUG will be greatly appreciated.
