I wouldn't think closing and re-opening Legacy would make any difference but it's an easy enough thing to try without asking.
You can take a look at your File-Paths under Options/Customize/Locations and see if, in fact, you're linking up to the right place. Legacy can be funny with tiff's where there's compression/no compression used, but I don't know if that applies to jpg's. If it's a 7 when you open it and a 10 after re-save? And, by the way, editing and resaving jpg's is not a good thing to do but you can do less damage if you don't change the compression when you resave it. .....
