I set up a test file with the following: - Mary Morgan married John Smith - I added a daughter Anne Smith - I set the daughter Anne as adopted by both John & Mary - I set John & Mary to divorced - I added a new husband temporarily for Mary (named Harry, with no last name) - I added a new daughter named Betty Morgan for Mary & Harry - I set the daughter Betty as adopted by Mary, and left the field blank for Harry's relationship - I then deleted (not unlinked) Harry - Lastly, just to be sure, I ran all three file maintence actions The database looks consistent with the situation Rita describes, I think. Then I ran a Descendant Narrative report on Mary Morgan with the following results: > Descendants of Mary MORGAN > > 1-Mary MORGAN. > > Mary married John SMITH. The marriage ended in divorce. They had > one daughter: Anne. > > 2-Anne SMITH. (Relationship to Father: Adopted, Relationship > to > Mother: Adopted ) > > Mary next adopted a child She had one daughter: Betty. > > 2-Betty MORGAN. (Relationship to Mother: Adopted ) If I understand the original post correctly, this appears to be the desired result.
