That's correct.  SourceWriter sources can't retain their formatting in a gedcom.

Gedcoms were designed for sharing data between programs, not backing
up your data.

That's why it's always best to do backups by going to File > Backup
Family File, which not only compresses the Family File but can also
include other files which work with your Family File such as the
clipboards, Potential Problems List, Research Guidance info, etc.

You'll have to manually convert your sources to the SourceWriter format.
