I have been a Legacy User for 10 years, but am just starting to using the Geo Locator Database feature and the Mapping feature. I can't seem to figure out how to find locations that are not modern. For example, if the town or city was in a different county in the 19th century, the Geo Locator Database feature will not recognize it, and the Mapping feature will map to a location with the same city/town name, but not necessarily the city/town I am looking for. I am aware that I can move the push pin for a location in the Mapping feature if the Mapping feature does not get it right. Considering that most locations are not modern in the field of genealogy, this would seem to be something that I would have to do frequently.
A second problem I noticed is that the Geo Locator Database feature will not recognize a township location such as the township of Dover in the location Dover, Ocean, New Jersey, USA. When I enter this location as Dover Township, Ocean, New Jersey, USA, it will not even recognize this as a "Core +" location, with "Ocean, New Jersey, USA" being the Core portion and "Dover Township" being the "+" portion. Instead, it simply does not recognize the location at all, even though the Core portion is in the database. Are these known weaknesses, or is there somthing that I can do to make the features work the way I want them to? Should I just scrap the use of these features for anything but modern locations and purchase AniMap for everything else?
