Hi Elizabeth,

You do what I was talking about the other day, when I posted "Another
feature that I don't think has been mentioned yet in this thread, is
that you can copy an existing source citation to the Source Clipboard."
I went on to say...

"This is useful if you're working with one document (say a birth
certificate) and have the details for this in the Source Clipboard, then
move onto another document and replace the details in the Source
Clipboard with those details - and then find you want/need to use the
first source again.

"Simply go to a person where you've already used that source, open the
assigned sources for that person, highlight (click on) the source you
want to copy to the clipboard, then click on the "Copy Souce to
Clipboard" icon, that's the bottom of the five icons in the Assigned
Sources window with two pages as its picture. You'll get a warning that
you're about to overwrite the existing Source Clipboard; click on the
"Copy/Overwrite Existing" button and the Source Clipboard now contains
the new information that you've copied from an existing citation."

Hopefully you're now at a point where that makes more sense. :-)

Now that you've copied the data into the Source Clipboard, it is ready
to be attached to other items of data. When you have entered such an
item, either click on the "Add Clipboard Source to the Current Field"
icon (the blue single line), or press <Alt><2> which does the same
thing. Note that you do not have to open the Source Citations window to
add a source, you can do it on the fly as you enter data.

Having done that, when you go to your next document or whatever, put the
data into the Source Clipboard first so it's ready to use as you enter
facts/events into your database. To do this, click on the "Open Source
Clipboard" icon - the upwards blue arrow - or press <Alt><1>. Set up
the source information, save it, and then it's ready to use.

Hope this helps. :-)

Kind Regards,
Wendy Howard
