Yes, I have merged two large files, but it took me about 3 months, double
checking the imported file was edited and exactly as I wished it to be with
regards to matching my own file.
For example, I edited all the Locations places, turned all the Surnames
into Capital Surnames, changed all the American dates into English dates,
checked all the Sources to the way I had mine and many other things. Made
sure all the Prefixes and Suffixes were in their correct places and AKA's
were done correctly.
Once I was satisfied that all the imported file was to my satisfaction, I
opened my file, and then did the Merge, by selecting Add the Legacy
information to the EXISTING Family File.
By doing what I did, I prevented a number of errors happening, therefore
very few alterations needed to be done. So don't be in a hurry to do a merge!
I have assumed that your imported file was done with Legacy and not another
program.
