Kirsten, I have been using Families on my ipad and iphone since it was released and it is great to always have my data at my fingertips. I have almost 28,000 names in my database along with sources and supporting information. While Familes seems to work great, I personally do not trust any program to modify my Legacy data without error. I use Families for reference, but I do not try to export back to Legacy on my desktop!

Geoff: It sounds like that's the option but I'm pretty hesitant to plunk down $600 for an iPad that would depend on a $15 application to be successful, especially since that application is at version 1.0. Hopefully someone will respond who uses Legacy on an iPad via Families and tell us whether it's simple and full-featured in real life. I see a list of what Families *can* do; what is there that it *doesn't* do--short of the obvious like print? Kirsten, You can use the Families app. See http://www.legacyfamilytreestore.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=FAM. My totally tech sons and daughter-in-law visited for a week at Christmas and of course there were iPads everywhere. I'm soooo jealous I can't stand it, but I'm not about to give up Legacy. Most of my research is online rather than at libraries or archives, but I'd love to be able to sit on the patio or at the local coffee shop and clean up my location list, sources, notes, and do some searching. Does anyone use a Windows desktop as their main computer (with Legacy) and sync it somehow with an iPad? If so, how is it done and what is required? Is it a satisfactory arrangement for a non-technical person?
