I have spent the better part of the day today trying to create my first 1 page,
5 generation ancestor chart using both Legacy Charting 7 and Legacy Deluxe 7.4
Reports menu. I am disappointed to say the least. Other charts I’ve done in
Legacy Deluxe 7.4 Reports Menu have worked out pretty well. The pc is Windows
XP SP 3, fully updated, 2 GB ram, 140 GB hard drive.

In Legacy 7.4 Reports Menu, the ancestor chart looked like it was intended to
print on a roll of toilet paper. Nothing I did in the chart settings changed
anything.

In Legacy Charting 7, every time I would get one formatting element how I
wanted it, one click in another formatting area and it was “boom” right back to
the standard template, 2 x 2 pages. I would get all the boxes re-positioned,
then decide to tweak the font, and click ok, then whoopsies, it’s 2 x 2 pages
again! I think I re-positioned the boxes no less than 5 times.

Then, finally it is all arranged how I want it, so I print it, everything on my
screen is black & white in the chart window and in the print preview. But
guess what, in the printout, every box is shaded yellow! So, I finally do get
the darn thing all set up, black & white, 1 page, save and print.

Is this a feature or a bug? I haven’t found anything on this list addressing
this issue. I can think of absolutely no good reason why the box shading
colors did not show in the chart window. I can think of absolutely no good
reason for the chart to bounce back to “default” paging just because you tweak
the font size or the size of the boxes. And, no, it isn’t just adding page
area to the side or bottom because the chart expanded, it is exploding into 4
pages and putting the chart smack-dab in the middle with box spacing back to
the default settings.
