Russ,

Thank for your response. I apologize for "hi-jacking" the ongoing thread at
the time. That was my first time to contact the LUG, and I certainly did it in
an incorrect manner. I will not let this happen again and I will be more
correct in the future.

John

Subject: [LegacyUG] How to add a Picture received as a photo in email

John,
First when you reply to the list with a question that does not pertain to
the Original Subject, then you should change the Subject line, so it doesn’t get
lost in the emails that people are skipping due to the subject.

To add a picture that you received as an email first you need to save the
picture to your computer in what ever folder you are keeping your
pictures. If the picture is embedded in the email, then right click on the
picture and there should be a menu item that says ‘save picture as’, pick that
and save the picture with a new name or keep the name to your computer. If the
picture is attached then you should be able to right click and pick the menu
item ‘save attachments’.

Once you have the picture saved to your computer you can add the picture in
several different ways. You didn’t say how you were going to use the
picture.
1. to add the picture to an individual, in the row of icons under the
persons info screen click on the icon that looks like a picture frame (normally
the fourth icon). The picture gallery for that person opens up with all the
pictures attached to that person. On the right side you can click on a box for
what kind of media you wish to attach to him and there is also a drop-down box
to show which events they are attached to. To add a picture to individual or
event, click on the Picture button and a Load Picture window will open where you
can navigate to where your pictures are located. You will also notice that there
are two buttons at the bottom, Desktop and My Documents so you can navigate to
one of those locations. Click on the picture you want and click OK, then the
Display Picture window opens where you can add a caption, date, description, and
file ID. and a lot of other things to manipulate the picture. One you are done
on that screen click Close and it will be in the next available location on the
picture gallery screen. If you have several pictures in the gallery, you can
make one the default picture by putting a check mark in the box above the
picture and click on the little asterisk button.

2. to add the picture to a marriage, click the same icon on the Marriage
Information screen (usually the second one) and repeat the same process.

3. If you have the Deluxe Edition of Legacy and you have several pictures
and people to add pictures to then you could use the “Pic Center” from the
toolbar. Click on that Icon if it is on your tool bar or use the menu ‘Tools –
Picture Center’. The Picture Center window opens with several options: Everyone
or a Search list, either one will have a list of those people in you file, and a
list of pictures in your file, a window with two tabs Picture List and Attached
Pics. To attach pictures, highlight the individual you want to add the pic to,
highlight the picture file you want and then highlight the event in the attached
pictures box, then click the attached button. For more info on how to use this
feature then click on Help button or go to the help section and search for
Picture Center.

Hope this helps,
Russ Strong

Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] pronunciation ??
  Sherry,

I wrote Legacy several
days ago regarding information as how to add a picture received via an e-mail to
Legacy. I have recently downloaded the 7.5 version. I have not
received an answer to my picture question. Is that something you can help
me with or should I contact some other department at Legacy?

Thank
you,

John Harris
