In Legacy, when you enter an item of data from a chart sent to you by
someone else, you refer to that document in your source - you don't
store it "in" Legacy, unless you attach it, which I wouldn't normally do
(but I know others do, and both choices are fine).

You should have some sort of filing system on your computer's hard
drive, where you can find documents, pictures, etc of interest to you
reasonably easily. Nothing to do with Legacy.

My filing system for my genealogy "stuff" includes a folder called
Correspondence, where I file any electronic copies of correspondence
that I refer to in my database. If a chart came attached to an email,
I'd save the whole email as a discrete file in the Correspondence
folder, with the date and name of the person who sent it to me. I might
also save the chart separately, if I wanted to refer to it frequently
(as I'd get pretty annoyed having to open the email to open the chart if
I was doing it often).

Within that Correspondence folder I have further folders also called
Correspondence, but with a surname following it, such as Correspondence
- Howard. In that folder will be the correspondence relating to that
branch of the family, making it quicker and easier to locate a specific
item from the hundreds of files I've stored over the years.

Hope this helps. :-)

Kind Regards,
Wendy
