Greg, When I saw this thread is seemed to me that most responders understood very well what it was that you wished. As Brian made perfectly clear nothing can be added to a date field, other than the Legacy options, if you want it to verify and/or wish it to be GEDCOM suitable.

I use aft, abt, bef, ca, all the time and I know what those are for. My point was that I've got 20 people named John Doe who were all alive at roughly the same time. I found one that died before a certain date, and I think I know which one it is, but I'm not certain. I wanted to add something to his date of death that would indicate that I was uncertain that this particular John Doe was the one that died before that date. I can't really put the question anywhere besides the date of death because I use Name List to look for these individuals. In any event, I figured for sure who it was who had died before that date so the point is now moot. Thank you for the responses though.
