Jane, I had to do this not long ago for a line that I wanted to submit to the DAR. What I did was first tag all the people that I wanted to include in the line of ancestry.
I then exported everyone with the tag to another, new Legacy database. Then I ran the Ahnentafel report from this new database. Give it a try.
