If you put the AKA or nickname, or preferred name, in brackets it will be used
in reports. For example, my maiden name was Janet Kay SULLIVAN, but I am known
as Jan - so I have entered myself into Legacy as Given name: Janet Kay "Jan"
Surname: SULLIVAN. In report options I have selected 'Use quoted names for
narratives' and 'Remove Quoted given names' (Only applicable for narrative type
reports, not charts although I *think* remove quoted given names works
everywhere.) So a narrative sentence would read "Jan married ....." etc. but
anywhere I have asked (in a sentence definition) for full name to be used, or
where full names are used by default it would read "Janet Kay SULLIVAN" rather
than Janet Kay "Jan" SULLIVAN". However, it is global, not specific to a
particular sentence definition.
Just tried it out, and if you use [Name] in your sentence definition you get
Janet Kay SULLIVAN, if you use [FirstName] you get Jan.
Cheers
Jan

Subject: [LegacyUG] AKA in sentence definition ?

Also, one more thing. Suppose I don't want the first name in the
sentence definiton. What if I want a person's AKA? I didn't see AKA
nor nicknames in the list of possible fields. Can I select an AKA for
the sentence?

Thank you.

Robert
