Unless you're using strange spelling, it's more likely to do with the order and 
format of the numbers.  Mm-dd-yy, mm-dd-yyyy, yy-mm-dd, yyyy-mm-dd, dd-mm-yyyy, 
mm/dd/yy, mm/dd/yyyy etc, etc.  Programs get confused whenever there are 
unorthodox formats, symbols, or spelling (if you're entering it with the month 
names).

I would think that the program is not reading the date the way you have
it entered. When the program reads the date, it formats it, for example
by making sure the month begins with capital letter. If it cannot read
it the date remains as entered and the program does not know how to use
it.

Try entering the month with small letters, and see if Legacy works with
it.
