Jane, In Family View, right click on the tabs and tag all ancestors (be careful with the selection) with, say tag1. Now go to Search>Find>Detailed Search, and as the first condition, search for an individual with Death Date equal to (leave blank) OR second condition Death Place equal to (leave blank). Create and then Options>Advanced Tagging and tag the Search List with tag2. Now go to Detailed Search again and search for all individuals with tag1 and tag2.
