I would like to make a couple of clarifications that I think were missed in
this thread. While Wendy is correct in that the screen print is captured in RAM
[memory], it is a special address in memory known as the Clipboard. Sorry, I am
a nut for clarification and using proper terminology. The other thing is that
using the PrtScn key alone copies the entire desktop to the Clipboard. In my
case, I am using Windows 7 and dual monitors. The PrtScn captured all of both
monitors. Holding the Alt key while pressing and releasing the PrtScn key
copies only the active window. I also use Microsoft Word to capture all the
results. This way I can capture the original screen, paste it into Word, and
then go back and scroll down to reveal more of the data and run the process
again. This can get tedious if you have a really long list of data, however.

The Print Screen button may not *appear* to do anything when you press
it, but it has taken a picture of your screen and put it in the
computer's memory.

Now you need to go to a graphics program (Windows Paint is just fine if
you don't have anything else) and paste from the computer's memory to a
document. It's as simple as: open Paint, press Ctrl-V. Now save the
file, and you have a copy of what your screen looked like at the moment
you pressed the Print Screen button.

Hope this helps. :-)

Kind Regards,
Wendy
