This reply is in fact meant to help all of you with these various issues. So
please read and take to heart an earnest attempt to resolve your issues.

I have 4 computers using Windows 7 (one of those is a 64-bit system. My
database contains over 400,000 individuals and over 6,000 pictures)

When you install Legacy you can install it in any directory you want..(ie,
C:\Legacy7\)
All the files in the default folders as they were in Windows XP and
everything in Legacy will function.

I add, copy, move, backup, paste, rename, and all basic functions from one
to another (although you will have to copy to a public folder then move to
the actual folder)

I use dropbox for backup...not for database. But, I have on hundreds of
occasions restored from these backups in dropbox to offsite computers at
work, etc. I have never lost data, pictures, link to pictures, had errors
writing to log files...

Legacy is stable...and the testing methods are not perfect...but, if
everyone does backups daily you may never have totally messed up data.

I am rambling, but all is with good intent...please contact me off list I
will try to guide you. Henry [email protected]

Best of Luck
Henry

Subject: [LegacyUG] Missing Pictures

After moving to a new computer and from Windows XP to Windows 7 I have lost
the link to all my pictures.

The search function within Legacy can't find the missing files but they are
all there just under a new location due to the Windows 7 new file system.

Is there any way to get Legacy to search "ALL" file locations?

I have thousands of lost pictures and manually attaching them will take
weeks.

I have searched the archives and haven't found a work-a-round for this
problem.

Thanks
