Paula: I see no one has answered your question. I would have replied earlier but your OP was not plain text. ;-)
Go to Options | Customize | Locations and click on "View Current List of Multimedia Locations...". I'll bet that your default location is listed here? It shouldn't be. Make a backup of your database and then go back to Options | Customize | Locations and click on "View Current List of Multimedia Locations...". Select the row that lists the default location and click "Combine the highlighted path with another one in the list...". Then select the top row in the list (which should be blank) and click "Highlight the Destination, then Click this Button". Now go back to the Picture Center and check to see if your problem has been fixed. These instructions are for V6. Don't ask me what causes this or why the list of multimedia locations works this way. I didn't program it.
