Hi Marianne, The marriage certificate was of her own marriage, and at this point I can only assume (which I don't like do) that she and her husband received it from the same place they were married. The photocopy that I received from the County Clerk's Office appears to be identical as to her own marriage certificate, however, I would like to record each as separate source. Additionally, there were other birth and marriage certificates for her mother and father (both now deceased) and I have not had the opportunity to verify the information in those certificates with those of the County Clerk or State Vital Statistics Office.
The confusing issue for the privately held certificates is that the Legacy SourceWriter Template only allows for Marriage Records, 1) Found in Church Records, or 2) Found in Governmental Records, and 3) Frakturs which does not apply to any of the certificates supplied by the individual, however, it does apply to the photocopy that I received from the County Clerks Office. Hope this is a little clearer, Charles -----Original Message----- From: mbstx [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, October 27, 2011 5:50 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] Artifact vs Recorded Legal Certificates >From whom did you obtain the privately held marriage record, and is it an >exact copy of say, a marriage license or a church marriage for the couple? >Marianne -----Original Message----- >From: Charles Apple <[email protected]> >Sent: Oct 27, 2011 1:51 PM >To: [email protected] >Subject: [LegacyUG] Artifact vs Recorded Legal Certificates > >This is probably a dumb question, however, I was recently provided a >copy of a Marriage Certificate privately held by an individual.
