You would not use a serial port for a projector. And, I am betting that your device doesn’t have a serial port at all. It is very difficult finding a serial port on anything these days. That 15 pin connector is a VGA port.

Also NOTE, that most NetBooks the hardware is NOT really upgradeable. Yes one can run Home basic or Home Premium but would not gain much speed. Most are limited to 1 Gig of RAM and is the result that the mother board is designed that way.
